The Mabati Technical Training Institute (MTTI) has been the centre for knowledge and hope for many youth living in Mariakani, Kilifi County. Thanks to the generous suppport from our sponsors and GlobalGiving donors, a total of 396 trainees have enrolled for different courses from January 2022.Majority of these youth are from vulnerable families who without your support may not have had the opportunity to access the kind of training offered at our training institute.
To increase employment opportunities for our trainees, MTTI has introduced new courses in Accounting Technician Diploma (ATD) and Solar Panel Installation. We believe that the new courses will increase employment opportunities for our graduates and enable them to transition to decent jobs. With the increasing demand for online learning, Information Communication and Technology (ICT) training has gained more popularity among youth graduating from high school in Kilifi County. MTTI has since January2022 enrolled 196 trainees in the ICT to equip them with desirable skills to enable them access online training opportunities.
We are also delighted to report that our collaboration with organizations like Bethel Network has enabled us to integrate training on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights in our training programs. All the girls enrolled at MTTI benefitted from sanitary towels and training on proper menstrual hygiene practices to enable them better manage their menstrual periods. This initiatve has contributed to reduction of absenteeism of female trainees and improvement of their performance in the last 3 months. We also expanded our kitchen garden program by planting more vegetables – kales used to supplement our lunch program for trainees well- being.
We thank you for your support and reaffirm our commitment to continue empowering youth from marginalized and vulnerable households to acquire relevant skills to access more opportunities in Kenya. Together, let’s build an Africa with pride!
