Wildlife Warrior 3rd Update

By ZCT NPO | Project Co-ordinator

Our Rangers helping out on World Rhino Day
Our Rangers helping out on World Rhino Day

A heartfelt thank you to everyone that has donated and continues to support our campaign "Support our Wildlife Warriors"!!

In the last few months our Wildlife Warriors have done incredible work towards the protection and conservation of our Black and White rhino populations as well as the other wildlife and endangered species on the reserve. The team has been working round the clock in the field, following up on leads, making arrests and creating a presence and impact in their field.

Our fantastic team Wildlife Warriors also recently assisted with dehorning and treating an injured white rhino bull that had been injured by another rhino. It was great seeing how much the field rangers enjoyed the experience as they are normally faced with the more difficult parts of rhino conservation. The white rhino bull has made a full recovery.

Our Rangers also participated in one of our community visits to Obani and Manyoni primary school where they handed out lunch boxes, crayons and wildlife booklets on World Rhino Day. It was great for them to be involved in the lighter side of conservation and community work.

We are still desperately in need of more protective clothing that is the most important equipment for our Warriors who work in harsh weather conditions. Our goal is to provide each Ranger with and extra set of protective clothing and boots. We would also like to send more of our Wildlife Warriors for essential field ranger training to enhance their skills and confidence in performing their duties. Our APU manager is also doing research into having our own on-site canine unit which will dramatically increase our reaction times and will assist our Wildlife Warriors with apprehensions.

If you would like to support our Wildlife Warriors, please consider a contribution towards our funds! Every donation helps us to achieve our goal and is deeply appreciated.
