Another Step Forward

By Ernesto Rodriguez | Executive Director

This year has flown by, transforming more classrooms, planting more trees.  Tree ceilings are now installed in California, Colorado, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New York and Utah, serving 14 school districts and 7,000 stucents.  This is what you helped start.

First graders in Paducah, KY layed on thier floor, seeing their ceiling for first time.  One student shouts out, "I give this a 10 out of 10".  Then another one in the back of the room yells out, "No, It's 100 out of 100".  The teacher expressed, "Now that we have the ceiling, it's hard to think about what it was like without it. The space feels so much more welcoming and calming".  Link below: See the students making comments in the video.

A high school teacher in Oceanside, CA got her students involved in selecting their tree ceiling for their windowless classroom.  This exercise has created a tighter sense of community, people more aware and receptive of others.

The classroom transformations were wonderfully summarized by CNNs The Optimist Daily.  It made my day and year, and it should also make yours. Read the article in the link below.  After all, we wouldn't be here without your support.

We are ending this year and begining the new year with sizable classroom transformations in Central Californa, Washington, and Indiana.  Thank you for making this journey possible and supporting the lives of thousands of students.
