Connecting through Dance was a project based on the need of adolescents to establish bonds with other young people, who like them, have made dance an instrument of personal and social transformation.
The project consisted in the establishment of pen pal exchanges among the adolescents of the Enlaces Program in Panama, with the students of Moving in the Spirit program, in Atlanta, United States.
Students of both programs shared letters that allowed them to get to know each other: their hobbies, aspirations, dreams and challenges; videos about their communities and tutorials of contemporary dance routines were also created.
For us, this was the perfect excuse to reinforce their skills in the English language, but also for the development of transferable skills, such as the management and safe use of social networks, audiovisual production, personal branding, marketing and preparation of dance routines.
Again, dance and culture allow us to establish deep, meaningful and transformative encounters, beyond the linguistic, cultural or geographical differences.
