Kidsave is proud to announce that Tabitha Charlton, Director of Weekend Miracles Houston and licensed attorney, has been appointed to the inaugural Texas Partners for the Children and Families Committee. Under the leadership of Director Tabitha Charlton, our Weekend Miracles Houston program has made significant progress since its launch in 2020, serving 61 youth in foster care in 2023. Tabitha’s recent appointment to the Partners for Children and Families Committee (PCFC) by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) highlights her dedication to improving the lives of children in foster care.
One of the most memorable Weekend Miracles Houston events was at Vantage Point Farm, where over 25 kids had an unforgettable experience with horses. They took turns riding and grooming horses, many for the first time. Despite initial hesitations, their confidence grew with each lap around the arena. At the grooming station, they groomed manes and fed carrots. At the end of the event, all participants joined in feeding the horses, a bonding event that brought smiles to many faces.
This successful event is just one example of the impactful work being done by Kidsave’s Houston Weekend Miracles program. We know Tabitha will continue to bring positive changes and strengthen the support system for foster youth across Texas.
The Weekend Miracles program continues to create lasting memories and build stronger bonds between foster youth and potential adoptive families. The dedication from leaders like Tabitha Charlton, along with the unwavering support of the community, is crucial for the program’s success. As the Weekend Miracles program continues to evolve; from horseback rides to forever homes, we’re creating brighter futures and forever families, one connection at a time.
