RUWAI VISITS THE UZOR FAMILY

By Chibueze Dike | RUWAI VISITS THE UZOR FAMILY

To be compassionate in rendering true services to the less privileged without expecting anything in return is not in being either manly or womanly, it is in being humane. The above Nugget of Wisdom was further demonstrated today, 17th day of April 2021, as "The Rural Watch Africa Initiative (RUWAI)" continued to identify and commiserate with the physically challenged (deaf and dumb) family of Mr. Uzor, in Oka -Ugiri Community, Imo State.

It must however be noted that the wife and daughters of the above-mentioned family sustained fire outbreak injuries on 28th June 2020 following the inferno on their 1 Bedroom Apartment, as they had purchased some kerosene mixed with fuel for cooking. The bad incident which badly affected a pregnant mother, 5 years old daughter, and a nine-month-old baby in the womb, could be described as being miraculous because no life was lost.

Speaking at the visit, Mrs. Tamunoene described Rural Watch Africa Initiative as a non-profit organization to strengthen the resilience of poor and marginalized rural communities whose lives and livelihood are been threatened due to degradation of their natural resources, climate change, and social exclusion. She brought to light that Uzor's family was captured under the RUWAI Covid-19 Relief and Economic Recovery program, due to their poor economic and social background, adding that so far, under the program, Uzor's family has benefitted from the Healthcare support, which helped them get treated from the severe burns they had, from the domestic fire accident.

Furthermore, she highlighted that RUWAI, together with her volunteers commenced the building of a three-bedroom apartment that is still under construction, to enable them to start life again while soliciting for the support of all who are for humanity, by donating relief materials and cash gift to facilitate the completion, through the website of the initiative, www.ruralwatchafrica.org

More so, she opined that RUWAI and partners are providing the family with food items, financial support, income-earning skills for the disabled couple, and educational support for the five children on monthly basis.

She also enumerated the efforts of the organization in ensuring the wellbeing of vulnerable community members since 2016 as being the provision of healthcare needs, facilitation of an agro-processing plant for income generation, and access to mobility for some disabled persons in the community.

While presenting some relief materials and a whopping amount of money to help take care of their children's health, Mrs. Tamunoene encouraged the family to remain steadfast in the efficacy of what God can do, while thanking in a very special way, their partners and volunteers for the unquenchable support which makes the visit possible.

Appreciating the RUWAI for the immeasurable commitment and support rendered to Uzor's family, the Youth President of Oka - Ugiri Community, asserted that the most intense joy comes not from personal feats, but from helping other persons achieve their goals. He maintained that great minds are those who must have denied themselves certain pleasures on the cause of their devotion in services they rendered, more especially when it's a call to save, help and rescue others without expecting anything in return. He also charged RUWAI and her partners to continue with their good virtues, assuring them that their services to humanity would be rewarded by God Almighty.

The highest of the event was the excitement in the faces of the physically challenged deaf and dumb family of Uzor, as they waved their hands in an expression of their joy and happiness.
