"You are wanted. You are loved. No matter what, I will always take care of you" Hann’s aunt would whisper, her voice a beacon of comfort in the little girl’s stormy world.
Hann, a bright-eyed fifth grader from the Bunun tribe, had a childhood marred by instability. Shuffled from one relative’s home to another, she lived in a state of constant upheaval, plagued by the fear that she was unworthy of love and stability. Her aunt, heartbroken by Hann’s plight, made a courageous decision. Despite her own meagre means, she vowed to give Hann the secure, loving home she desperately needed.
At first, Hann’s fears didn't simply vanish. The ghosts of her past followed her, whispering that this new sanctuary might also be taken away. Her aunt, sensing these lingering shadows, would envelop her in a warm embrace and remind her daily, "You are wanted. You are loved." Slowly, the seeds of reassurance took root in Hann’s heart. She began to blossom, transforming into a joyful, confident girl who delighted in helping around the house, from hanging laundry to sweeping the floor.
Life seemed to be on the mend until fate dealt another blow. Both her aunt and uncle lost their jobs due to chronic illnesses, plunging the household into financial despair. Yet, in this darkest hour, The Mustard Seed Mission (MSM) became their light. First, they provided sponsorship for Hann, ensuring her continued education and well-being. Then, they introduced the 'LoveLife Care Package,' a lifeline that brought essential supplies to their doorstep.
Recently, with the innovative 'LoveLife Centre' platform, families like Hann's can now select the items they need through a simple touch on their smartphones. Watching Hann and her aunt navigate this platform together, choosing supplies that would sustain them, filled the social workers with hope and joy. Here was a child who had found not just a home, but a family that cherished her.
Inspired by her aunt and uncle’s resilience, Hann now dreams of becoming a nurse, aspiring to return the care and kindness she received by tending to their health in the future.
Last month, in the spirit of #Mother'sDayLove, The Mustard Seed Mission launched a campaign to fund 'LoveLife Care Packages.' These packages are more than mere donations; they are lifelines, ensuring that over 2,000 families have the food and essentials they need to thrive. Your support can make a profound impact, showing these families that they are not alone. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and give every child the opportunity to dream and succeed.
