Volunteers from 16 community food banks which are under the food bank network of the Mustard Seed Mission visited “Fortune Foodbank” to learn how it runs its service.
Manager of Fortune Foodbank, Mr. Liu, was cooking in the kitchen. Liu set these volunteers into cleaning group, cooking group, wrapping group… and led them to deliver service to needy people. One of service in Fortune Foodbank is shared banquet, needy people can come to the food bank, sit down with other people, and enjoy the free banquet. The food at the banquet is all donated. So volunteers come to learn how to organize the banquet.

After the banquet, volunteers shared their experiences:
Grace Community Foodbank:
last year we started the service to deliver food to needy people. We also opened a Chinese New Year banquet for around 300 needy people. Everyone was satisfied and enjoyed. We are happy to see it.
Niao Song Community Food Bank:
We connect with shops or restaurants in the community which are willing to share food to needy children who are in our after-school tutoring class. This way needy children are able to have dinner every day.
Light Community Foodbank:
I remember a single mother who raised three children who deny receiving help from us; but in the end, she has the willingness to take the initiative to come to us to receive supplies. It fulfills their needs of the livelihood, but also let them feel be loved. She and the children start smiling. Through sharing food, it not only provides food and clothing, but also provides people with love and warmth.
