The refrigerator Enhances the Service Influence
The Mustard Seed Mission actively promotes the community food bank and distribute food and supplies to all sectors of the community via distribution stations. There are over 200 community food banks in Taiwan. The GIS Foundation response to us and start to share and promote the sharing food movement. The foundation donated refrigerators to distribution stations in northern, central and southern Taiwan. Besides, the 15 years second-hand refrigerator in Agape Children's Home has finally retired because of the donated refrigerator. At the same time, the foundation installed an awning for the children in the children's home to hang their clothes. No matter how clammy the weather is, children still can feel the warmth from the society!
Don't Worry about the Next Meal
The implementation of the community food bank is going to enter the third year. During the services, we found that many kids from economically disadvantaged family may not be able to have three meals a day when they study outside; in some family, parents leave the house because they got into a fight; or because of the sudden disease happens on the family caregivers and need to stay in hospital, so they leave their hungry children at home. Even those who don't look like "vulnerable" did encounter some plights, but they had difficulties to express…
The Mustard Seed Mission's goal on "hunger-free" service is "one county, one distribution station, one township, one community food bank" in order to establish a network of non-hunger community to share food and supplies to those in need in the community. However, we only have one refrigerator in Hualien distribution station. Thus, we need to raise refrigerators equipment for the rest of the distribution stations for handling the refrigerated and frozen food that will be delivered to each community food bank.
Send love to where it has needs
In order to keep the food fresh, we also let the link between the Mustard Seed Mission and convenient store logistics to reach a more effective resource sharing. The Mustard Seed Mission appreciate the support from enterprises and the communities. With the action of love, let's take care of the community needs and the service for needy children.
