We will provide food supply and food production inputs to very poor women and their families in order for them to improve their level of living. Food supply will consist of rice, dried fish and legumes while production inputs will be for home-gardening as well as the raising of small animals like chickens and ducks for food and for the market. We will also provide training and technical advice on their livelihood initiatives.
Women farmers is struggling to grow food, improve their incomes and well-being with the main reason being the lack of focused technical and material resources they can have access to. The lack of local champions and success stories of women farmers breaking the barrier of unproductivity and poverty also limits success and improvement. The result is lethargy and powerlessness and the never-ending cycle of poverty.
We will focus our effort to 150 progressive women farmers. They will lead in promoting farming improvement with our technical and resource assistance that will be on-going for at least 1 year or until they are able to stand on their own with little help from us and others. The women will become beacons of success in the village and source of technical and resource inputs for other women farmers to emulate. In this way we are able to cascade success to others.
Women farmers are unable to improve their situation because of the lack of focused assistance on technical and farming inputs. Technical assistance is very much needed given the complexity of the problem faced by marginal farmers. We hope to build vibrant, economically-sustaining communities able to expand their gains and include their neighbors in the process.
