As you know that Al-Mustafa arranges free Cataract Surgery Camps across Pakistan to fight preventable blindness, especially in deprived communities.
The Location:
This time our team's destinations were Johi, a small town in the Dadu district of Sindh.
The second destination was Wazirabad, Punjab, the city famous for its cutlery production.
Selection of Campsites:
The Eye Campaign Team's Coordinator and Project Manager, Mr Khurram Qasmi, coordinate with the local office holders or volunteers of Al-Mustafa from the community. A suitable location is selected to facilitate a significant number of beneficiaries and to reach out to the maximum number of people. We also seek support from the Primary Eye Care Centers in the area, government health institutions, local administration, schools etc.
Statistical Summary:
Johi, Sindh
Wazirabad, Punjab
Our Team
The team for the Eye Camps consists of 3 Ophthalmologists and 14 other technical staff. Local volunteers from schools and other social workers are also encouraged to participate.
The Camp
Both Eye Camps were conducted for two days each. Patients who required eye care treatment other than cataract surgery were also given necessary treatment and medicines at the same site. All these services were provided entirely free of cost.
Postoperative Follow-ups
After one month, postoperative follow-ups were done by Ophthalmic Assistants of the respective primary eye care centre.
Hepatitis C-Investigations
Apart from providing Eye Care Services, we also conduct Free Hepatitis-C investigations to segregate such patients from healthy ones, and the positive cases are referred for further treatment.
We will continue to send more campsite reports in the coming days.
