The Girls’ Day Shelter Maria de Nazareth provides a haven where girls from Barrio Sandino can have a meal, take a shower, work on their studies with a tutor, and engage in creative activities such as art and dance. In an environment limited by extreme poverty, the chance to focus on creating a painting provides a welcome release. A local artist volunteers his time to give art classes at the Day Shelter. Art classes and other activities are held in the Common Area of the Day Shelter. It is sheltered from the weather, but open, airy, and full of light. Today’s lesson was on creating reflections.
