At Escuela Adelante we believe in three major principles:
- diversity,
- equity,
- excellence.
Without any one of those items, we aren't supporting the growth of our students. Here in Nicaragua, our students need to push ahead despite the multitude of significant challenges in their lives. We are proud to have a diverse student body while providing high-quality education for free or low cost. We believe that excellence resides in the relationship between student and teacher. We foster growth for our children by creating a supportive and caring academic environment that leads to greatness.
However, trying to keep up with so many families on scholarships while not having any additional funding to cover that financial loss is hugely draining. We went into this project with a goal of financial sustainability, and we provide tuition costs on a tiered payment schedule so that everyone has access to the school. Even still, families struggle to pay tuition on time, and so many families can't afford to pay at all when they must make decisions between food and school.
In this project report, we want to thank everyone who has given so far and ask that if you haven't done so already, you consider making a recurring monthly donation in the name of one of our scholarship students who is without a sponsor. We need donors to make up the difference, and many people have more than "enough" to share. Sometimes, we don't have the outlet or know where to give. Giving to Escuela Adelante means that 100% of the funds go directly to the children. It is a long-term investment because education is a gift that keeps on giving for a lifetime and beyond.
