It has been a troubling year for climate action. In light of the upcoming COP26 conference, where world leaders gather to discuss and make committments for global carbon reduction, it's hard for invidiuals, especially children to feel heard.
We know that youth are suffering from an epidemic of mental health issues including anxiety and depression and unprecedented levels and some of this is related to climate grief. It can be overwhelming for young people to look out at natural disasters like wildfires, droughts, and hurricanes and make sense of their future. Through the programs of Green 13 and POP-UP Festival, we work with students and families to open conversations about the emotions of climate action. For children to have opportunities to share their thoughts, feelings and actions about issues that effect them deeply.
I invite you to check out the Green13 collection of activties on the POP-UP website to explore your feelings about climate and learn more about how to set goals that can lead to positive action for the climate.
We are excited to share these photos from students at Ashoka Global Academy, Nashik Maharashtra, India doing the Nature Mandala activtiy. Lovely to see students outdoors and finding beauty in nature.
many thanks for your support
Patty
