Novanet connects INEB Middle School with internet services

Novanet connects middle school students in Chajul

The goal of Novanet is to connect the community of Chajul with highspeed internet. As a social enterprise, Novanet is dedicated to both offering an necessary and excellent service, as well as serving the community. With support of your contributions, Novanet is actively supporting three schools in Chajul with internet serivce. Recently Novanet completed the full installation of highspeed internet service in INEB, a local middle school serving more than 70 students. INEB is the public school in Chajul, where students between the ages of 11-14 receive their education. This school, unlike the private schools in the community, does not have the resources to cover the cost of internet services.

Daniel M,, the compuntation teacher of INEB, shared the great importance of Novanet's contribution: this will be the first time that these students will be able experience online reseach to complement their studies within their own school. When students were asked what they would research first, one young woman responded: "I want to study the history of my heritage, the Mayan culture." Another young student responded that he is intersted in studying evolution of human beings. The teacher also noted that the ability to use online resources would greatly complement his ability to teach his students. Your contribution is supporting to motivate students, inspire curiosity, and improve teaching methods...and it doens't stop with INEB. Novanet is currently in process of serving two more schools. Chajulense Middle School receives Internet!

Local middle school receives NovaNet service

NovaNet continues with the vision to connect the Maya Ixil population of Chajul, Guatemala with all people, all the time, via high-quality, locally-owned high speed internet service. This new year of 2023 has already started strongly, by maintaining accessibility and increasing the speed of the internet service in the community.

And your contributions are beginning to help us broaden our reach, with a focus on supporting schools to have high-speed internet connections to support their learning objectives. We have delivered modems and necessary connection devices to a local middle school, the National Institute of Secondary Education (“INEB”). NovaNet technicians are currently working on the installation, so that when the students return to study in 2023 (a new school year for them), they will have high speed internet action in their computer lab.

The computer teacher, Maria Elicia S., together with the INEB’s Director, Elias A. report: We appreciate the support that the NovaNet project gives us in our municipality of Chajul, we recognize that it is one of the first to provide Internet services for the entire community. As well, they are the first to seek avenues to provide direct support for our middle school students and institutes. Lack of internet access is a debilitating factor for the educational system in our community. On the contrary, access to high speed internet fosters learning, and allows for improved education for our students, who are the future professionals of our community. Thanks to all who have contributed, and please know that 100% of our students will benefit from this critical service.
