Shifting Power to Women Farmers

By MADRE | MADRE

Violence recently erupted on the remote northern coast of Nicaragua, shutting down schools and blocking access to food and resources. It also prevented women farmers from leaving the community to sell their produce -- halting their income.

But when you stepped in, you made a difference: you shifted the power to women farmers.

Because of your generosity, MADRE partnered with Wangki Tangni’s Harvesting Hope program. You helped them develop systems to sell their produce locally, compensating for the food shortage affecting their community and provided them with a source of income.

Power is shifted when women are able to earn their own income, especially in times of instability. This independence goes even further, enabling them to participate in additional Wangki Tangni programs and advance their leadership skills.

All of us at MADRE thank you for making this life-sustaining and life changing work possible!
