Already this year, your support of our Harvesting Hope project has done so much. You’ve delivered seeds and training to Indigenous women farmers in Nicaragua, the support they need to plant crops that feed their families. And now, we have even more great news to share!
Last month – and with your support – MADRE and our local partners organized a three-day farmers market for the women farmers to sell their crops!
These women live on the impoverished North Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua. Here, in the remote Indigenous towns that scatter the region, women struggle with poverty and lack opportunities to raise money for their families. But your support changes that. The farmers market that you make possible, where women can sell their surplus crops, offers a vital source of income.
With their new earnings, women can buy necessities for their families, like clothes and school supplies for their children. Thanks so much for making this possible!
And here are a few photos from last month’s farmers market. Thank you!
