June 2021 SNAP Report

Opie, puppy mill survivor and SNAP recipient

As of June 8, 2021, we, Helping Bull Terriers Worldwide, have provided spay/neuter funds for Bull Terrier Rescue Inc (6), Bull Terrier Rescue Mission (7), Bull Terrier Rescue of Central Florida (5), and 1 other private rescuers totaling 19 dogs during the quarter.  We expect this trend to continue and that the SNAP program will be needed.  We intend to continue raising funds for this program and are planning additional strategies to promote those efforts.

One special story we want to share is regarding Opie, a puppy mill survivor.  This boy was rescued from being in a cage constantly with little room.  He has pressure sores all over his body including his face.  The pressure sores wounds are continually opening can bleeding that Opie developed MRSA.  Once Opie stepped out of his life in a kennel and was rescued by Bull Terrier Rescue Mission, Inc., his wounds are now slowly healing.  HBTW was able to help Opie rescuers with SNAP funds for his neuter so that the much needed funds for his continual MRSA treatment would not be as strained.  Opie and the many other Bull Terriers being brought into rescue on a daily basis still need our help.  HBTW will continue to be there!
