Health Insurance for Widows and Orphans In FCT-Abuja (GlobalGiving)
Report: Report on Health Insurance for 200 Widows and Orphans in Abuja
Period: August 18, 2023, to December 15, 2023
Reported By: Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE)
Date: Friday, December 15, 2023
The objective of the project is to raise funds to enable 200 widows and orphans in Abuja to have access to healthcare services through health insurance. WEWE has raised 116 donations so far within a period of 3 years and 1 months (September 23, 2020 – December 15, 2023).
In the period reported from August 18, 2023, to December 15, 2023 WEWE received $0.00 donations.
Previously, WEWE has provided health insurance for 93 widows and orphans (55 in 2021 and 26 in 2022) – this is for both National Government Insurance and Private Healthcare Schemes with the help of the funds received in the period reported from WEWE’s GlobalGiving page.
From August 18, 2023, to December 15, 2023 (4 months), WEWE received $0.00 donations from GlobalGiving. Although we received zero donation from GlobalGiving, we also received cash donations from individual philanthropist who submitted supports to WEWE.
The funds donated by the philanthropists in addition to the previous donation from GlobalGiving were used to provide direct medical Healthcare Services for 4 widows and their families. The reason for the direct medical Healthcare Services is as a result of the discouragement gotten from the delay in registering and accessing healthcare services by widows in the Health Insurance Authority Scheme. See picture evidence of the new additional widows who have received urgent direct health intervention in this reporting period under the Group, Individual, and Family Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP) project supported by GlobalGiving.
Currently, with this new 4 widows benefiting from the direct medical healthcare services we now have a total of 97 beneficiaries (both old and new widows and orphan children) who have directly benefited from the Group, Individual, and Family Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP).

By the end of this reporting quarter December 15, 2023, WEWE has enrolled 97 beneficiaries out of the 200 widows and orphans with support from 116 donations received from GlobalGiving platform and individual donors outside GlobalGiving from inception to December 15, 2023.
We now have 103 widows left to be registered into the Health Insurance for 200 Widows and Orphans in Abuja. WEWE continue to solicit more support from donors to enable us to touch more lives.
On behalf of all the beneficiaries, we want to appreciate all the donors who have been supporting this project on Health Insurance for 200 Widows and Orphans in Abuja.
