By Carolyne Chepngetich | Health Programme Coordinator
Thank you for you support of this project. This latest update is from Carolyne Chepngetich, Health Programme Coordinator with BCW in Kenya.
The partnership between Brighter Communities Worldwide, Londiani Sub County Hospital (LSCH), and Mayo University Hospital (MUH) continues to strengthen in moving the healthcare forward. The partnership expanded to include University of Galway and Department of Health Services, Kericho County. The partnership was re-accredited by the Esther on 27th September, 2024.
A lot has been achieved through the partnership from shared learnings to capacity development of Health Care Workers and infrastructure development in LSCH. The partners have supported each other in times of emergencies as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic and the tragic accident in Londiani Junction. The support during the accident and the fundraising campaign for the construction of a dedicated trauma centre is a great example of the strength of the health partnership. The trauma centre will enable patients to access appropriate trauma care in a timely and a dignified manner.
In June 2024, a team form Mayo University Hospital visited LSCH where Continuous Medical Education (CMEs) on different topics were delivered jointly by the Mayo University Hospital and LSCH teams. An Electrocardiogram (ECG) machine was procured and the LSCH staff were trained on how to use the machine. The provision of the ECG machine to LSCH will improve the quality of health services and reduce referral to Kericho County Referral Hospital (KCRH).
Construction of the trauma centre is progressing well and upon completion, it requires equipping, staffing and further capacity strengthening in trauma, Remote Emergency Care and Advanced Trauma Life Support. We continue to appeal for your support towards full completion of this vital trauma care service.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey
