The Oldest Operating Track in the U.S. is Closing!

Educating Legislators in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania!
Dear Friends!
We have incredible news to share! Freehold Raceway - the oldest operating racetrack in the U.S. - is officially closing its doors this December!

Despite New Jersey’s horseracing industry being propped up with $20 million annually through 2029, Freehold’s owners have realized the reality: the public has rejected horseracing as the cruel, outdated practice it is.

This marks the 47th horse track to shut down since 2000 and the third in New Jersey alone. We’re witnessing true progress toward ending the exploitation of horses for gambling and entertainment!

But the fight is far from over. While we celebrate this victory, corporate welfare continues to keep other racetracks alive, siphoning public money into a dying industry. We need your help to keep the momentum going.

How we are making an impact for horses across the U.S.

  • 21 racetracks closed permanently since 2013.
  • We have deployed over 20 mobile billboards in major U.S. cities to raise awareness about horseracing cruelty.
  • We have purchased hundreds of outdoor ads (bus benches, billboards, posters) in major cities, including: New York City, Baltimore, Los Angeles.
  • We have organized or supported hundreds of protests held at tracks across the country to educate the public about horse deaths and animal cruelty.
  • Tens of thousands of leaflets distributed to spread awareness and inform communities.
  • We have held meetings with U.S. Senators to educate and advocate for legislative change.
  • Our team has educated state legislators in key racing states, including Pennsylvania and New York.
  • We were an essential part of a coalition to introduce the first bill in New York to End Horseracing Subsidies.
  • We have 100% success in fighting new racetrack proposals in states like Massachusetts, Georgia and Illinois.
  • We have appeared in hundreds of news interviews and features, including coverage by CNN, ESPN, HBO Real Sports, and more...
  • We have written op-eds published in major outlets such as MSNBC,The Washington Post, Katie Couric Media, and more

Horseracing is built on cruelty—horses endure emotional, physical, and psychological abuse, along with painful injuries, and are sent to slaughter when they can no longer generate profit. Their lives are filled with confinement, suffering, and exploitation.

This is not the life horses deserve.

Your support helps us fight this abuse by exposing the truth, educating the public, and pushing legislators to take action.

With your donation today, we can keep the pressure on and bring an end to this cruel industry for good.

The horses are counting on us.
