Hello friends,
It is with great honour that James Were Fiundation would like to share current updates with our friends and partners considering the state of floods in Kenya.
It has been raining a lot in Kenya, and this has really affected lives. It has affected farming, properties, and lives.
A case study of NYALENDA SLUMS, the biggest informal settlement within Kisumu city which is the third largest city in Kenya, and the majority of people live below a dollar a day. It has been raining since March 2024, affecting several people. We have got our people displaced and needing support in terms of food, clothing, and shelter. At one point, we had to evacuate our people to safer or rescue centers where we organised on how we feed them, clothe them, and possibly re build their houses after the rains.
We have mobilized several people like Redcross,Christian relief fund, individual members, and county government in ensuring that we give hope to our people.
We have done our best, but a lot more still needs to be done to shelter our people,to feed our people, and even to provide shelter to our people. We have faced serious challenges as many schools that were being used as evacuation centres have left the students who are reporting back.
Friends, let's come together in ensuring that we offer helping hands during this particular time when there is a need. We believe in you.
