International Book Day is a global celebration held every April 23 with the aim of promoting reading, as well as valuing the irreplaceable contributions of those who have driven the social and cultural progress of humanity.
A fundamental component of the project is extracurricular education, aimed at helping reduce the learning poverty of the scholarship recipients; this education focuses on the development of reading and writing skills.
Reasons why our scholarship girls enjoy reading:
• It increases their curiosity and knowledge.
• It keeps them informed.
• It awakens their imagination.
• It allows them to connect and put themselves in the shoes of other people/characters.
• It frees their emotions: joy, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, love.
• It allows them to research the topics they are most interested in.
Our main goal, through reading, is to empower the girls and young women of the Scholarship Project so they can help develop the reading skills of those in their environment as well: family, friends, and their community.
