On March 15 there was a terrible anniversary, the anniversary of the war in Syria, an often forgotten war, that has been going on for far too long. Where the bombings didn’t make it, poverty, hunger, and the darkest despair make their way.
Overall, 14.1 million people are in need of some form of humanitarian assistance in Syria in 2021. Crucial civilian infrastructure such as schools, water supply systems, health facilities, and housing infrastructure has sustained extensive damage or contamination from explosive hazards, and much of it remains unrestored or in disrepair. In areas where hostilities have subsided, life remains a daily struggle due to limited access to basic services and livelihood opportunities, increasing financial hardship and an eroding capacity to cope.
Based on available data, as many as 11.5 million people live in areas contaminated by explosive hazards, exposing them to significant risks.
Focused on the terrible events that are occurring in these days in Ukraine, we want to recall this anniversary by stating with even greater strength: “May the madness of the war come to an end!”
Children are those who mostly suffer the consequences of these 11 years of consuming conflict. This is why we've increased our efforts to support Syrian children.
Thanks to many contributions received we where able to support more than 3500 children in Aleppo, Damascus and Latakia, Syria thorugh psysological support, education and medical care.
Let's not forget about them! Help us bring support to more children!
