Dear Friend of Karuna Germany,
Our Chairwoman, Susanne Traud-Dubois, visited the "Dignity for Women" project in Far West Nepal recently.
During her visit, she met many members of the community involved in our project. We created a short and touching video featuring stories from various people in the area.
In the video, girls and women share their experiences and describe how the "Dignity for Women" project has helped them overcome harmful practices and taboos. They talk about how, before the project, they faced exclusion during menstruation due to a lack of basic necessities like underwear and pads. Now, they are able to live their lives normally, even during their periods.
Mothers-in-law discuss how they now allow their daughters-in-law to stay at home and sleep in their own beds. They support them in maintaining a healthy diet and have come to understand that the practice of Chhaupadi was based on harmful superstitions, which no longer need to be continued.
Faith healers, Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), and project staff also share their experiences.
Please watch this inspiring video!
Thank you for your support in helping girls and women experience dignified and safe menstrual cycles!
