Dear Supporters,
According to UNICEF, acts of armed violence against schools in Haiti, including shooting, ransacking, looting and kidnappings have increased nine-fold in one year, as rising insecurity and widespread unrest begin to cripple the country’s education system. In the first six days of February alone, 30 schools were shuttered as a result of escalating violence in urban areas, while over 1 in 4 schools has remained closed since October last year.
Our two schools, College Les Sophos and Institute Mixte Divine, couldn’t open until January of this year for the school 2022/2023 school year. We are grateful to have the opportunity to open and educate the children this year. We hope to have the opportunity for a summer camp and keep the kids safe and learning. Thank you for your support!
