Housing victims of trafficking requires a long term commitment. It can take a victim up to two years to work through a legal case, find a job and get the help they need to stabilize. Safe, affordable housing in a resource poor community is a challenge.
Through a partnership with Friendship of Women and a local hotel we have been able to provide housing solutions for nine survivors. While being housed they are being counseled to better understand how the trauma of trafficking can impact their lives long term and are gaining strategies for understanding and overcoming the negative effects of trafficking.
Safe housing and support makes a big difference in the journey from surviving to thriving.
