United Against Trafficking: Online Grooming

Our youth are vulnerable. They spend a lot of time online for school and for fun. This makes all youth, but especially youth of color or LGBTQ youth, targets for online predators. Predators look for people that they can exploit.

Make sure you are informed!

Online grooming red flags:

Someone gets too personal too soon.
They often agree with what you say, try to win you over.
Offers gifts or money.
Ask you to do things like send them nude photos.
Wants to discuss things that make you feel uncomfortable.
Attempts to isolate you from family or friends.
Tries to shame or blackmail you.

Parents need to stay informed about online abuse.
