Even though our original goal of $10k was far from achieved, we did manage to obtain results with the $2,449 received, for which we are very grateful. Our plan was to purchase data cards, cell phones & routing devices at wholesale, with discounted prices, but unfortunately the reduced amount did not allow that.
Instead, we proceeded to distribute funds directly to almost 40 of the teachers on our list, according to their needs, which happily improved their remote teaching capacity in order to perform the regular weekly Alive to the World lesson with their students. Our curriculum includes 35 weekly lessons for the duration of the school year, and we needed to avoid interruptions.
We are hopeful our next school year, scheduled to begin late August/early September, will allow live classes, even though up to this point, the decision is still being left to parent discretion. If we do start the next school year with classroom teaching, we will not need to rely so heavily on wifi, cellphones and other sorts of communication.
Once again, thank you for your donation!
