SEED Madagascar works side by side with communities in southeast Madagascar to improve education, health, and livelihoods-all while safeguarding the region's unique and fragile environment. We take a hands-on, multi-disciplinary approach to tackle poverty from every angle, delivering programs that work together to meet the diverse needs of the people we serve. Our projects are shaped directly by the community, evolving as their needs and challenges change.
Madagascar is a place of stunning beauty and unparalleled biodiversity, but this biodiversity- home to 90% of species found nowhere else on Earth-is under threat. At the same time, nearly 75% of its population lives in poverty, with limited livelihoods, inadequate healthcare, and lack of access to quality education. Only 50% of primary students complete school, and the country's fragile healthcare system struggles with too few professionals and insufficient coverage.
SEED tackles challenges using a holistic, sustainable approach. We train healthcare providers to improve access to medical care and support families by helping create income opportunities. By building classrooms, we give children the chance to attend school and gain an education. Simultaneously, we protect Madagascar's extraordinary wildlife by preserving habitats for its rare species. All efforts we make are interconnected, addressing the multi-faceted needs of the people and the environment.
Our approach integrates healthcare, education, livelihoods, and environmental preservation, ensuring people and the ecosystems they rely on thrive. We provide communities with tools, skills, and opportunities they need to lift themselves out of poverty. By empowering individuals with knowledge and resources, we enable them to build brighter futures. Equally, we're protecting Madagascar's incredible biodiversity, upholding its unique ecosystems for generations to come.
