Build Sustainability Skills of Ten African Leaders

I want to thank you for your support of IAIA’s Sustainable Africa Initiative, and provide a progress report on the impact of your gift. 

 During 2020-21, we have had enough funding to sponsor four individuals from Africa to benefit from taking the online course Foundations of Impact Assessment course and five participating in our Virtual Symposium.  Below are testimonial comments about the direct impact of your gift.

• “I hoped to further deepen my knowledge in environmental, social and health impact assessment drawing experiences from different parts of the world. I must say this was achieved because, case studies presented and examples provided in the various presentations were drawn not only from different parts of the world but also from different sectors. I have come to appreciate environmental, health and social issues on a broader perspective than before.”

• “By participating the Virtual Symposium, invaluable knowledge and sharing experiences of experts around the world made my scope of knowledge wide. Besides, I will contribute the knowledge concerned with method and technologies of impact assessment practices of the climate change, Health impact assessment, resilience and key issues, especially, the important factors of biodiversity data support spatial planning for healthy ecosystems to sound decision-making processes, and to equitable and sustainable development.”

 In addition, in order to provide them with the most recent concepts in impact assessment, these individuals have already been given access to the highly regarded journal, Impact Assessment and Project Appraisal, and access to mentoring and advice to hundreds of talented professionals worldwide through the tool IAIAConnect.

 Lastly, your support helped bring this project to the attention of the African Wildlife Foundation, the government of Norway, and the World Bank.  IAIA will be partnering with them in the coming months to scale up this project across the African continent in collaboration with other organizations.  If you would please consider another gift the project, we only have $596 left to raise, which will provide Foundation Course Training to a fifth individual. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/iaiasustainableafrica/
