Hello All,
We hope you had a great Easter weekend, we decided to do something fun with the children in the community so it is not always about homework. With the support of Action Change we managed to borrow a power pack, laptop and projector and as evening set the children dressed up in their PJ's and headed down to our car park with cushions and setup to watch a movie under the stars.
It was such a great turn out and many parents also joined, it is great to see parents are starting to take an interest, we used donated funds to purchase water, juice, fruit and some popcorn for the children, taking our budget down to $26.48 left but this event really motivated the children and to remind them of our community project is fun and a better option than joining a local gang.
Sadly we had to stop feeding the children towards the end of last year as we do not have the funds to cover food for the children, this point we did loose around 20 children and with limited resources our project was struggling and became more of a homework club, we need to change this and get back to being a fun and safe space that does help with homework but also is a fun space for our children.
Next week we will use the remaining donations to purchase soccer balls and dancing mats for the girls and we hope to run another community filn under the starts soon while we continue to raise funds to bring back our feeding program
Thank you,
Nina
