Hi Supporters,
Australia is an amazing country for many, however Indiginous communities known as Elders groups are the original communities in Australia however the modern cities are not set up to equip and support them. Elders groups have traditional housing, a wealth of culture and face different challenges to non-indginous people.
Many elders groups communities are inland away from the coast and non indiginous communities, however with limited and poor education, extreme desert heat and different cultural up-bringing we see an increase in young people from traditional communities ending up in the criminal justice system in Australia.
Yes the government is trying to tackle this issue but like most governments they let the most critical fall through the gaps. Our community project is run by the elders community leaders and we focus on providing opportunities for young people, so far with your donations we have funded water pumps in community areas as well as shading that allows young people to get out of their homes and meet in public safely with access to drinking water and shade. We have also run surfing programs taking young people to the coast to experience the ocean. There is so much more the community would love to do to support their youths but they are stuck by funding and opportunity and this is why we continue to fundraise and support them,
Thank You for Supporting Us!
Eva
