Dear supporter,
As we mentioned in our last report, we are currently working with a youth group from Scotland who are fundraising to volunteer for two weeks in Kenya.
The group of 18 volunteers will be made up of 4 qualified social workers, 1 Doctor, 2 Nurses and teenagers aged 15-19. This youth group works with teenagers providing workshop based health related groups aimed at improving the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of teenagers particularly those who are deemed disadvantaged.
Our mission is to increase cultural understanding and awareness of global issues within our alumni and to equip our alumni with the knowledge and ability to further contribute towards key global and local issues. These kids will benefit greatly from the experience offered by volunteering in Africa but they also have a lot to share too. It will be truly life changing for them.
Whilst the group are busy fundraising and we do not want to disrupt the amazing journey they will go through to raise these funds, this fund exists to alleviate some of the burden for such a group. Thanks to the help of donors such as you, our next step is to see how on target they are with their fundraising to see how the Charitable Trust can help.
If you have any any questions, comments or ideas for this project, please contact me at info@gvi.org.
Kind regards
Sophie Birkett
