Thanks to our supporters on GlobalGiving, we have raised enough funds to set up one small business and are close to funding the second! We really appreciate all the support.
The theme for our entry on the Girl Effect Challenge is Dignity, Opportunity and Hope.
We've been talking to some of our students and graduates about how their business can give them Dignity, Opportunity and Hope. Each day, we feature one of the girls on Facebook and Twitter with her thoughts.
"My business will give me DIGNITY. It will let me become a successful person in society and help me educate others" (Purity, class of 2012, Seed of Hope Nairobi)
"Having my business will give me the OPPORTUNITY to succeed in life and to change my life. It will let me help other orphans, street children and my brothers and sisters back home. Success to me means to be comfortable in life and not struggling so much.” (Patience will graduate from Seed of Hope Nairobi this month)
"I'm earning through my business and it is helping me build my life and helping me to hope I can achieve what I want - to make my business big and help other people. I have hope I'm going to succeed! I want to be a big designer selling to East Africa and the world!" (Peninah, 2010 graduate and now running her own business)
"I'll make enough money from my business to make my life different. I'll be confident and have DIGNITY." said Gloria on her graduation day last week.
"Having a business will give me money and the OPPORTUNITY to further my education" (Fransiscah, class of 2012, Seed of Hope Kitui)
"I'm hoping that my life will change and I will become a fashion designer in the future." (Maureen, Seed of Hope Nairobi)
THANK YOU for helping us raise the funds that will ensure these girls have Dignity, Opportunity and Hope throught their own small businesses. Please continue to support us by sharing this project with your friends, family and colleagues. Together we can make a difference!
