A Ukrainian single mother and 2 children were identified in Uzbekistan, where they were living in dire circumstances.
IOM provided support for the living costs: food and non-food items, including winter clothes and school supplies for the children. They received tablets for the children to attend school remotely, accommodation and cash for other basic needs, documentation assistance, health care to treat a leg injury and access psychosocial support.
Once it was established that the best interest of the children and mother was to move to Poland and conditions allowed, IOM coordinated the organization of the travel and covered the related costs (flight tickets, medical check ups and in-ground transportation in both countries).
The family was received by IOM Poland staff and recurrent follow-ups were done to ensure the adequate integration of the family in the country.
