Books might be falling out of favour in some of the more affluent parts of the world as electronic devices and spoken word are taking over, but in countries such as Kenya, books are more precious, not to mention expensive - and so, they are extremely rare.
Thanks to your kind donations we were able to build not one, but two community run, free to use libraries and learning centres, stocked with over 5,000 books for readers of all ages, abilities and interests. Our libraries are all built from shipping containers where JBAC provides support, supplies material, but the local community provide free labour.
Once converted, the community took over the ownership and they run the libraries similar to libraries anywhere in the world. My words cannot fully describe and illustrate how much our libraries impact the communities we work with, especially now when Covid interrupts schooling and changes the way we work. It is without exaggeration when I say our libraries provide the only form of education and, for many, are the only source of knowledge and entertainment.
We hope to continue building libraries in the partnership with Kenyan communities. Thank you again for your support.
