Hello,

I hope this finds everyone well. The severity and length of this pandemic has  lasted longer than anyone anticipated. We certainly arent through this yet..  How are you continuing during Covid?

As you know, our primary mission at Ojala Ninos is education. Our afterschool program was open evry afternoon Monday through Friday, along with off campus activities. This all came to a hault, almost a year to date. We have maintained contact with the children and the community with our weekly distribution of activities, a snack and updated information regarding Covid.  All while keeping the safety regulations in mind and following them.

Even though the contact is limited, we are still working. The board this year has been busy.  They have remained in contact with San Miguel's NGO office to discuss acceptable activities during the pandemic. They approved new By-Laws ensuring continuity and transparency. We launched a new website and invite you to take a look. www.ojala-ninos.org

The board also hired a new Executive Director. Allow me to introduce Irene Fuentes who  joins us with  a Bachelor's degree in International Marketing and a Master's degree in Social Responsibility, a wealth of experience and.. . she doesnt mind getting her hands dirty! Please look forward to hearing from Irene and a project she spearheaded with GG. ( Helping kids overcome educational lag due to Covid)

There are some serious issues other than Covid facing our community of San Miguel Viejo, one of the biggest is clean, safe drinking water. It is something we look forward to working together with other NGO's in our area to educate, inform and train individuals to build rain catchment systems.

We are also now helping the elders in the community register for the vaccination, all the while encouraging safe practices and social distancing.

Please remain safe and healthy and happy, I hope this is a productive year for everyone!

A heart felt sincere thank you to each and everyone of you who supports us and to the GlobalGiving support support team!

Saludos

Betty
