Deforestation has remained a major crisis for Haiti. However, with the efforts of several groups, many trees have been planted to address the issue. Haiti has been experiencing better weather conditions within the past four months. Consistent above average rainfall has been observed throughout the country. Thus, creating a thriving environment for the plants to flourish. In addition, the peasant farmers continue to plant various fruit trees and non-fruit bearing trees such as acacia.
The plants that had taken root survived Hurricane Beryl. Unfortunately, several newly planted trees were uprooted and destroyed by the storm.
Continuous education and training are provided to the peasant farmers to ensure proper knowledge on agricultural and environmental care. The instructor travels to the peasant farmers to conduct educational seminar informing them on deforestation, pollution, habitat destruction and other environmental degradation. Furthermore, the peasant farmer are offered informative consult on the effects of damaged ecosystems and how it exacerbates climate change and instruction to minimize environmental destruction through changed behavior.
