Strengthening our Systems

By Cynthia Muhonja | Executive Director

Life Lifters Kenya has been operating as a project since its inception in 2015. Throughout these years, we have learnt how to curate impactful programs that positively impact the livelihoods of the girls that we serve. We have formulated trainings, conferences and mentorship sessions that have reached more than 300 teenagers across 5 different counties in Kenya.

In the past few months, we have been focused on strengthening our processes to ensure that we safely serve the girls. This mainly meant rethinking our non-501-c Status and forging a pathway for getting our project registered as a non-governmental organization in Kenya. To effectively do this, we had to put together a new board of directors, orient them on our operations and together work at acquiring our tax-exempt status.

I would thus love to report that after long months of work and waiting we have finally acquired our tax-exempt status. What does this mean for Life Lifters Kenya? The registered status means that we are:

  • Authorized to independently run our programs in Kenya
  • We are best positioned to attract funding for our programs
  • Best positioned to enjoy tax-exemption from the government
  • Able to interact at an official level with donors and partners

Thank you so much for standing with us thus far and we can’t wait to report to you on how our programs and operations would evolve as we continue to grow and serve more rural girls across East Africa.
