Project Report | Apr 30, 2021
Keep your spirits up!

By Giulia Leone | Project Leader

Good morning to all our friends and supporters of Malaika,

I hope you are well in this difficult time around the world because of the pandemic: fortunately, we are all in good health here, and we hope to continue this way.

There is a new President in Tanzania, after President Magufuli sadly passed away in March, and is a woman: Samia Suluhu Hassan, who was already acting as Vice President of the former President.
We welcome her with great hope, especially since she has declared herself open to the issues dear to us of the care of children by NGOs operating in Tanzania such as Malaika.

Easter holidays have been an extraordinary moment of the year at Malaika because the house was full: the teenagers could share their experiences at boarding schools and spend time with the young children who attend a daily school. Now, from mid-April to June, it will be a hectic school period for everyone.

We are delighted to offer all the children and teenagers of Malaika a good school and proud of their commitment.
In a country where only 25% of children attend high school, having 100% of our students over 14 attending high school with a good profit seems to us an excellent result. We hope that they will continue to study profitably for themselves and their country.

Two of the older girls have already turned 18 years. As they wish to continue their studies, we will continue to support them, even if they are already of legal age, to finish high school and then decide on their future.

We take this opportunity to thank all the families and companies that support us in the effort to cover school fees: without you, we would not achieve these successes.

We recall the possibility of remembering a deceased loved one with a scholarship in his / her memory or to establish a company scholarship to accompany a worthy boy in his studies.

By helping Malaika, you honor the name of a loved one or your company.

We hope that the pandemic situation will improve soon and that life and travel will resume as before so that we'll be able to see again Francesco Tiso (co-director of Malaika) from Italy, Mama Sue Lions from Australia, and the other volunteers and visitors who animate the days of Malaika and represent for the boys a lasting affection over the years.

I wish you all the best.

Jutta - Founder and Director of Malaika Children’s Friends NGO
