Therapy to help kids with trauma

At Hand to Hand we have many children who have experienced severe trauma including physical, emotional and sexual. Although we are experts in caring for, educating and feeding those in our care, providing specialist trauma therapists has always been difficult. The reasons for this include costs, accessibility in child therapists who work with children and therapists who specialise in the level of trauma our children have experienced.

Since January we have been working with a hospital in Bangkok to provide trauma counseling for our children which often meant sending the child and a worker to Bangkok for therapy. This was time consuming and also meant that the therapy was done in an environment that child was not familiar with and this hampered the full benefit of these sessions.

We have been working with the therapists and now they come to Hand to Hand in Pattaya to visit with the children. This is more expensive; however, it is more comfortable and beneficial for the child.

Gun is was struggling to see clearly and this impeded her ability to drive and do many regular life tasks. After a trip to the optometrist, it was discovered she needed glasses.

Thank you for all your love and support that enables us to do all of these programs.
