Nzeve's commitment to improving menstrual health in the Deaf community continues, as the organization offers menstrual health information to deaf learners in different schools across Manicaland, Zimbabwe. Even before menstruation, Nzeve recognizes that deaf people need to understand the bodily changes that lead to this important biological process. Without proper education and guidance, deaf learners may face significant challenges in understanding and managing these changes.
Nzeve has been conducting a series of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) sessions with deaf learners at schools in Buhera, Mutasa, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Mutare rural and Mutare urban district of Zimbabwe. The goal of these sessions is to increase SRH awareness and access for deaf learners, while also empowering them on the importance of personal hygiene and self-care.
To further support the learners, Nzeve distributed self-care kits, to help them maintain good health and personal care.
One of the participants expressed her gratitude, saying, "Before these sessions, I was so confused and worried about the changes happening in my body. But now, I understand what is happening, and I feel more confident in managing my body changes."
Everyone has the right to access SRH services, information, and products to maintain good health. Nzeve's efforts to reach out to deaf learners and provide them with comprehensive menstrual health education and resources are commendable and it’s only possible because of the support we receive from individuals and groups who give generously towards Nzeve’s work.
