On July 22, 2024, Kidsave International, in partnership with Touch of the Heart Charitable Foundation, proudly announced the inauguration of the Miracles Center. This multi-building campus offers a haven for children who have faced the unimaginable, providing them with the care and support they desperately need.
The Miracles Center welcomed its first 29 children this month, marking the start of its inaugural summer camp where they build relationships with mentors and potential families. Despite challenges like supply shortages and transportation delays, the construction of the Miracles Center continued, supported by dedicated staff and volunteers. Kidsave’s Miracles Center would also not be complete without our 10 Supermentors who organize therapeutical, sports, entertainment, and educational events and activities for the children. Our Supermentors are working at the center to help children find loving families and support, just like they did in our program at one point.
One of many heartwarming stories from the Miracles Center involves Masha, a 10-year-old girl who lost her father in the war and mother shortly after. When she arrived, she shared, “I never want to go back to the shelter. Here, I feel safe, and there are so many people to give me hugs and help me find ways to cope when I am frightened or worried." Kidsave is determined to find her a loving family.
Another story is of Danya, a young boy rescued from Mykolaiv in the early weeks of the war. After receiving support at the Miracles Center, Danya asked to stay and help build a better future for other kids, using his technical school training in painting and drywall to contribute to the Center’s upkeep.
The opening of the Miracles Center is a pivotal moment for Kidsave and the children of Ukraine. It embodies the resilience of a community determined to provide a brighter future for those who have suffered so much. When the invasion started in 2022, Kidsave quickly responded with humanitarian aid and evacuation assistance. To date, Kidsave’s Angels of Hope has delivered 2,824 tons of humanitarian aid to over 30,000 people, including 13,685 children. Kidsave’s work in Ukraine began before the war and with your support, Kidsave will continue to offer these children a chance at healing and hope.
