2024 First Quarter MH Nutrition Project
Dear donor,
We would like to express our most profound and sincere gratitude for all your contributions. Due to the help awarded by each one of you, the Mision Huascaran Nutrition Program continues to thrive and expand.
Below we share the MH Nutrition Program Progress Report up to March 2024
Nutrition improvements of the reported period:
- In the first quarter, our anti-anemia bakery produced 41.460 iron-enriched bread rolls to feed 793 children and pregnant women from Huashcao, Canchapampa, Congar, Punyan, Amashca, Pariaqaqa, Pariahuanca and Huaypan villages.
- Fish distribution continued monthly, handing out 2 tons of frozen fish on each occasion, benefitting over 3.000 rural households.
- The egg laying hen project at the Pariaqaqa school produced over 156 free-range eggs, due to a change of chickens, the new ducklings had to grow into productive age. In 2024, 134 school going children will have an additional daily boiled egg for lunch. Each egg provides invaluable nutrients for the children’s physical development. As such, the project is improving the protein intake of the children, providing 6 grams of additional protein and all essential amino acids.
- Our nutritionists led 114 community educational activities, benefitting 1000s of beneficiaries from 35 rural communities in topics such as nutrition, health and hygiene.
- The agro-technicians from Misión Huascarán supervised almost 100 vegetable gardens. Vegetable gardens are an important tool in the search for food security for the rural family, making them more resilient and sustainable in the long term.
- In March we realized the inicial hemoglobin screening in the targeted population, to be able to measure the progress in the fight against anemia in the rural Andean context.
To continue expanding our reach, we require all the help you can give – utilizing the GlobalGiving platform. The world continuously makes us face great challenges for our societies; and the children are the light and hope at the end of the tunnel for a bright future.
We thank you for all the help you’ve given and will continue to give in the future.

By Pim van den Hoven | Head of Social Projects

To our donors,
The “Mision Huascaran” team wishes you and your loved ones find themselves in good health. These times are still challenging in Peru, but we face them with optimism and a lot of positive energy. We continue to advance with our educational project “Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month”. We would like to share our progress and say thank you for all the support.
Actions accomplished:
- We continue with our complementary educational program, benefitting almost 200 Andea school children in reading comprehension, literacy, and critical thinking at 6 rural schools in Ancash Peru.
- In the third quarter of 2023, 420 hours of comprehensive reading classes were given by the Mision Huascaran Education team.
- With the Raz Plus, an interactive reading platform, our children read almost 8330 digital books.
- The average reading program attendance rate of our students was 96% in the third quarter of 2023.
- In July, the team participated in the Day of the School Teacher, celebrating this worldwide day to celebrate the honorable efforts of all teachers around the globe.
- In August, the team organized several special activities around the worldwide Day of the Children.
- All students currently enrolled have access to their personal tablet, giving them access to vanguard learning applications, otherwise not available in the remote rural areas of Peru.
We hope that we can keep counting on your support so that the children of Mancos and Carhuaz continue to receive a complementary quality education. We would like to thank you beforehand for all the support we received from you through the GlobalGiving platform.
Wishing you all the best.
The Mision Huascaran Team
