Wow! This year has been incredible so far ~ and with Southern California and Southern Florida cleanups still going strong through the first of the year. So far in 2022, Ocean Blue has engaged nearly 1,000 volunteers in 55 cleanups.
After Hurricane Ian, our team has been overwhelmed by the inflow of support. Folks all around the Southeastern United States have reached out to aid in disaster relief and ocean cleanup efforts, from Fort Myers Beach to Sanibel Island.
For now, beaches remain closed to public while our Founder & Director, Richard Arterbury, leads Ocean Blue's large scale equipment operations needed to remove large debris from beaches along the gulf coast. "As soon as we get the go ahead from the cities, we will move in with thousands of university students, people from local business and organizations in hundreds of cleanups around South Florida," Richard informed the team last week after multiple cities have deemed their beaches unsafe for the public.
We are closer to our goal of 200 cleanups this year and with your support our volunteers will have everything needed to host successful cleanup events to educate and inspire others, for our one world ocean!
In gratitude,
Karisa Arterbury
