Dear Supporters,
When the Omicron variant hit, it added challenges to surviving these tough times in the pandemic and affected everyone’s lives. However, your support and donations made it possible for KDSP to continue the monetary support initiative and provision of grocery bags for the families of individuals with Down syndrome (DS) in need.
In this quarter, 45 families were helped through the monthly digital cash transfers while 80 households were supported bimonthly through grocery bags. These bags contain the best household staples and personal hygiene products such as soap so families could attain greater well-being. Through an e-payment platform called, "Easypaisa" i.e. digital cash transfers, expenses of items such as medicines and other necessities were met. Moreover, 382 families were provided complimentary tickets to the KDSP carnival held on 20th March, an inclusive event, bringing together families to celebrate inclusivity and foster understanding and a culture of support.
Some stories and testimonial from the field:
This quarter your donations helped people like Sumaan, a young, chirpy 7 year old boy living in Karak, KPK. How Sumaan got connected to KDSP is a story of resilience and support. A 24 year old young woman from Karak, lost her only child with Down syndrome to health complications when he was only a few months old. She was a recipient of KDSP’s services including financial support. In her son's loving memory, Sundas vowed to help other families having loved ones with Down syndrome in her hometown. Standing true to her promise, Sundas got connected to Sumaan. As Sumaan's guardian she started receiving monthly cash transfers from KDSP and spent it on him. They have been receiving monthly payments for a few months which has helped provide necessities to Sumaan including clothing, shoes, and even a tri-cycle for him to play with. - Sundas, mother of Moosa and guardian of Sumaan.
“Cash transfers and grocery bags through KDSP have been a great source of support for my household during these trying times when the economy is bad and inflation is high. I believe these two services were sent to us by Allah’s will. I have a big family, the cash sent by KDSP helps fulfill my son’s needs including his clothing, shoes etc. May Allah bless KDSP and give more success to the organization.” - Muhammad, father of Syed.
Thank you for your continuous support, through your donations KDSP is able to provide basic necessities to families and instill hope and happiness in their homes.
Love,
Team KDSP
