Disaster Response Report – Mount Lewotobi Eruption
When Mount Lewotobi erupted with volcanic ash soaring up to 9,000 meters above sea level, thousands were forced to flee their homes. Mr. Yosef, a farmer from Nawokote Village, was among those who had to abandon everything overnight. Thanks to the emergency response team and your generous support, he and many others found shelter, care, and hope in the midst of crisis.
As of December 24, 2024, more than 8,600 people were living in evacuation camps. Dompet Dhuafa team provided vital services—medical aid, community kitchens, warm shelters, evacuation support, and even feed for livestock through our Green Hub initiative.
Your contributions made real impact at:
Boru Village, Wulanggitang District, benefiting 100 households.
Konga Village, Titehena District, benefiting 80 households.
Now, in 2025, the communities have begun returning to their villages and rebuilding their lives. Though the path to full recovery is long, they are working hard to heal—both emotionally and economically. Trauma recovery sessions and livelihood restoration programs are still ongoing, and your continued support plays a crucial role in this journey.
To all our donors—thank you. Your compassion has brought light into some of the darkest moments. Together, we’re helping entire communities rise again.
