More than 13K trash bags wiped out!

By Heidi Webb | Development Specialist

More than 13,000 Comfort Cases have been distributed so far this year!

That's over 13,000 children who will never experience the humiliation of having a trash bag serve as their luggage upon entering their first foster home. Thanks to your support, those trash bags are where they belong - in trash cans.

Allow us to share what that impact means, for the frontline workers (our partners in this mission) who are serving children in foster care. In their own words...

"We received 50 backpacks last year and it made a huge impact for the children entering foster care in Central MD, and the families caring for them." - Erin Tracht, Foster the Family Baltimore
"When children show up at a foster home with no pajamas or toothbrush, it truly is a comfort to them to get brand new things, plus a blanket of their own. They are happy to get these items." - Mary Grey, FosterHope, Richmond, IN

"It ensured that our kids had items. Making sure that they had pajamas, toothbrushes, and other needed items, made a big difference. Our kids can be transient at times and to make sure that they had something that was theirs was huge." - Victor Cruz, Saint Dominic's Family Services, Bronx, NY

"Your agency name is right on the mark: Comfort Cases provide comfort for children that come into care within our foster care system. Sometimes children are missing these essential items, or they are traveling long distances to a new temporary home. Comfort Cases have been wonderful in those situations. Often, they are a way to express care and support to resource families too. Some of our resource families (foster families) live in rural frontier areas, where a store is not even open on the weekends that sells pajamas :) These cases are just phenomenal and are a huge help in those situations." - Chris Evans, Oregon Department of Human Services, La Grande, OR

So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are providing dignity and hope through your loyal support of this mission.

Sincerely,

Rob Scheer
