Second Harvest Japan has been providing "Free Food Packages" to victims in the affected areas.
Second Harvest Japan (2HJ), which has been supporting the areas affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in Ishikawa Prefecture that occurred in January 2024, has been providing “Free Food Support Packages” from October 2024.
The food support package project to provide free food is being implemented in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, which was damaged by the collapse of houses due to the earthquake and tsunami, and has also suffered from a continued lack of water supply and limited places to buy food due to the closure of supermarkets and other retailers. 2HJ provides free food packages of around 10kg with various food items to households living in temporary housing, rented housing, and those who continue to evacuate at home who are worried about the financial aspects of rebuilding their lives amidst difficult evacuation situations.
2HJ accepted 1500 applications in collaboration with the government and local organizations, and delivered cardboard boxes with the 2HJ logo (the photo below right) to the households for three times, making 4500 boxes by which project will come to an end (May 31, 2025).
